Residents of Macclesfield have once again given generously to the Buxton Mountain Rescue, following their fundraising day in the town centre, which was supported by local MP, David Rutley.
An excellent total of £311 was raised, to support the important work done by the local Team, many of whom live in the Macclesfield constituency. This was in excess of the amount raised last year. David was introduced to the team, and had the opportunity to discuss challenges facing the service, ahead of the busy summer holidays.
The team was formed in 1964 and has now been providing invaluable services to local residents and visitors for over half a century.
Speaking after the event, David said, “It is always a pleasure to be able to support the great work done by our local Mountain Rescue Service, both in Macclesfield and in Parliament, where I am an active member of the Mountain Rescue All Party Parliamentary Group. This is a team of volunteers who do very important work by assisting those who cannot be reached by the other emergency services, which is greatly appreciated by the local community. I would like to thank them for all their hard work, on behalf of the people of Macclesfield and those who come to visit our local countryside.”
