Since being elected in 2010, David has established a proven track record of taking action for local residents and campaigning for Macclesfield and local communities.
David is working hard to make the local economy stronger. Good progress is being made, with unemployment falling by over 40% in the last year.
David is actively working with AstraZeneca to ensure that there continues to be a positive future at its Macclesfield site. The Life Science Minister, George Freeman, recently made his first visit to Macclesfield at the invitation of David. He congratulated David for championing life sciences and for his work on the successful Alderley Park Taskforce, which brought over 300 new jobs to the site.
Supporting small businesses and promoting apprenticeships to help more young people get into the world of work are also important priorities for David. He has also worked hard to regenerate Macclesfield town centre, support Macclesfield Hospital and campaign for Poynton Relief Road. David is committed to protecting our Green Belt and rolling out superfast broadband to our villages.
David said, “It’s a real honour to have worked hard as Macclesfield’s Member of Parliament for the last five years for local communities and local residents. I am now seeking their support to go on representing Macclesfield and take forward this important work in the next Parliament."
