David has actively worked with Cheshire East Councillors to support rural communities in the Macclesfield constituency.
Community bus services have recently been set up in Disley, Rainow and Poynton. These minibuses provide much needed transport to help local residents get to shops, services and after school activities. David said, “I would like to thank all the volunteer drivers for their support and would encourage any others who are interested in helping to contact the local town and parish councils.”
It is also vital that our villages are able to get access to superfast broadband. That is why David has been actively working with local Councillors, Connecting Cheshire, BT and Cheshire East Council to secure faster broadband speeds. Residents in Disley, Rainow and Sutton have received better broadband services.
Connecting Cheshire is planning to extend superfast broadband to 96% of Cheshire in 2015, and has been awarded additional funding to get to 99% coverage by 2017. David said, “Positive progress is being made, but I will continue to campaign to get better broadband access in more isolated villages, including Kettleshulme, Mottram St Andrew, Wildboarclough and Wincle.”
