David Rutley MP kicked off the festive season in style, as he joined pupils, staff and governors at the Lostock Hall Primary School Christmas Fair.
In a break with tradition, the fair was held on a Friday evening, instead of the usual Saturday morning slot. Pupils, teachers and parents turned up in their droves, and were able to enjoy a cake sale, raffle, games and much more. The school was happy to do some extra sums on a Friday evening when totting up the final total, and raised over £1,300 for the school.
The funds in previous years have helped contribute towards the provision of new books for the school, and also towards improve school security.
David was also able to spend time with the Headteacher, Graham Hamilton, to discuss the progress being made by the school and their aims for taking the school further forward in 2015.
Having been tempted into buying one of the chocolate log cakes on sale, David said, “It was great to help start the Christmas celebrations at Lostock Hall Primary School. The Fair was good fun, the cakes were particularly tasty, and the money raised will help fund further improvements at the school. It is always impressive to see so many pupils, parents and teachers playing their part in making this traditional event such a success at the school.”
