Macclesfield MP David Rutley met the new Cheshire Chief Constable Simon Byrne to discuss tackling crime.
Chief Constable Byrne took up the position only a few weeks ago and so it was the first opportunity for David Rutley to learn more about his commitment to neighbourhood policing.
At the meeting, Chief Constable Byrne also set out his plans to reduce crime levels in and around Macclesfield.
Chief Constable Bryne said: βI was pleased to discover that, like all of the Cheshire MPs I have met over recent weeks, David Rutley is knowledgeable about the work being undertaken by police in his constituency and is very supportive of my drive to place neighbourhood policing at the heart of the fight against crime in Cheshire. I look forward to working closely with him in the future.β
David, who is also Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for Policing and Criminal Justice, was pleased to hear about the progress being made by Cheshire Police and to learn more about how technology is being used in the fight against crime.
He said: βIt was good to meet Chief Constable Byrne. He has a clear commitment to neighbourhood policing in our area and has a hands on approach to tackling crime at the front line. I look forward to continuing to work with him in the fight against crime in the months ahead.β
