Over the Christmas period, we have seen many acts of kindness supporting the lonely and vulnerable in our communities, for which we are very grateful. This is all the more appreciated at a time when cost of living pressures are a real concern for many local residents. The Government’s support package is playing a vital role and I will go on working to assist vulnerable households in these challenging times.
President Putin's illegal invasion continues to cause misery in Ukraine and stoke inflationary pressures that not only impact people across the United Kingdom, but throughout the world. I am proud of the support that is being provided locally for Ukrainian refugees.
As a Minister at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, I am doing all I can to help call out Russia’s unacceptable actions and, in the New Year, we will all continue to support Ukraine in achieving the just and sustainable peace it seeks.
Over the year ahead, I will go on actively campaigning on important local priorities to deliver better services for residents and support our communities. Regenerating Macclesfield town centre is a clear priority, as is safeguarding Danes Moss from unwanted development. I am working with local NHS leaders to help deliver the reopening of Macclesfield Maternity Unit - temporarily closed during the pandemic. It’s good to see the that the Poynton Relief Road will be opened in the next few months and there is more work to do on the A6 corridor study for Disley and Newtown.
I would like to wish readers of the Macclesfield Express all the very best for the New Year. Please get in touch if you have any concerns or if I can assist with any issues in your area, and I will do all that I can to assist.
