The hard work, dedication and public service of staff at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP), our local mental health services provider, has once again been recognised in the annual NHS Parliamentary Awards. Local MP, David Rutley, was invited to join staff recently to celebrate their positive achievements.
At the ceremony, David helped present the nominees with special certificates to recognise their achievements, and thanked them personally on behalf of local residents for all that they do to provide high quality and dedicated care for local patients throughout Cheshire, as well as supporting their families and carers. He also praised CWP for leading the way in positive best practice in the mental health service sector, which the nominations have clearly demonstrated.
A total of nine nominations were made for CWP, covering a range of areas: Excellence in Primary Care; Health Equalities; Wellbeing at Work; Volunteer of the Year; Future NHS; Excellence in Mental Health; Care and Compassion; and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Nominated staff were chosen by their peers and colleagues at the Trust, with the nomination forms submitted to the Awards by David on behalf of the Trust.
Three of those nominated made it through to the national finals: The NHS Next Step Cards Team, represented by Dr Fiona Pender, for the Future NHS Award; Stephanie John, for the Care and Compassion Award; and Andy Styring, for the Lifetime Achievement Award. They attended the national award ceremony in Parliament earlier this year, which was attended by the Rt Hon Matthew Hancock MP, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, who congratulated all nominees on behalf of the Government.
Now in their second year, the NHS Parliamentary Awards were established to identify and promote innovative and high-quality care across NHS Trusts in England, and to thank staff for their dedication, hard work and commitment by recognising and honouring their achievements.
CWP Chief Executive, Sheena Cumiskey, said: “As a Trust, we were delighted to welcome David Rutley MP to help us honour some of our worthy NHS Parliamentary Awards nominees.
