Macclesfield MP David Rutley paid a visit to some special constituents at Seashell Trust’s Royal College Manchester, a recently judged outstanding specialist college for severely disabled young people.
He dropped into Seashell Trust to meet two students Chris Lobo, from Upton Priory area of Macclesfield, and Elley [CORR] Lomas, from Bollington, who attend Royal College.
The charity educates and cares for children and young people from 2-25 with some of the most complex disabilities and communication disorders in the country.
It has just launched its 60-mile Cycle Challenge to celebrate the milestone anniversary of 60 years at the campus Mr Rutley was shown around. The ride takes in parts of Mr Rutley’s Macclesfield constituency.
The MP said: “It was good to visit Seashell Trust again to meet students and staff. Everyone does a great job in supporting students to reach their full potential and I was inspired by the work being done. Seashell Trust deserves all the support it can get for helping young people cope with challenging disability.”
Mark Geraghty, CEO and principal at the Seashell Trust, said: “It was real pleasure to show David round Royal College and meet students from his Macclesfield constituency. He observed, firsthand, how our bespoke learning programmes enable young people to develop their communication and independence skills which are a vital part of their preparation for adulthood.”
