David Rutley, Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, has urged local residents to attend Connecting Cheshire’s event on fibre broadband coverage in Cheshire, on 6th November.
The event, titled, “Toward 100% Fibre Coverage”, will be held between 10.00 a.m. and 12.00 p.m. at Alderley Park Conference Centre, Alderley Edge, and will look at challenges facing rural communities which are yet to be connected by Connecting Cheshire’s Superfast Extension Programme, which is aiming to provide more communities with Superfast Broadband.
Topics covered will include: the challenges of reaching dispersed rural communities; alternative solutions, including satellite broadband, and future technology solutions; and the importance of investing in digital skills. Amongst the speakers will be representatives from BT, Broadband Delivery UK, and Cheshire East Council.
A number of local communities in the Macclesfield constituency are waiting to hear when they will see the benefits of superfast broadband coverage, and David has been working closely with affected local communities, Connecting Cheshire and BT, to improve the services available in these areas.
Speaking ahead of the event, David said, “I would urge as many local residents and local Councillors as possible to attend this meeting, and have the opportunity to discuss any concerns they have with the variety of organisations who will be present. It is essential for our local communities, and particularly often harder to reach rural communities, to have communications technology to match our fast paced society. I look forward to attending, and learning more about how BT and Connecting Cheshire East are working to improve the rollout of superfast broadband.”
