At a specially-arranged meeting, local MP, David Rutley, met with representatives from Ask Real Estate and How Planning, to discuss the cinema and leisure-led scheme that is being proposed for Macclesfield town centre.
David was able to review the latest plans for the £19 million development, and raised questions and concerns on behalf of local residents and businesses with Leon Guyett of Ask Real Estate and Jon Suckley from How Planning.
The development will see a new multi-screen cinema and six retail units for restaurants and cafés developed on the site of the car park on Churchill Way. The project is a key part of the overall strategy for the regeneration of Macclesfield town centre, on which David has been campaigning throughout his time as Macclesfield's MP.
The meeting preceded a public consultation event on Saturday 9th December, at which members of the public could review the plans and provide feedback. This was the second public consultation session, the first being held on Wednesday 13th December.
Speaking after the meeting, David said, "These proposals are an important part of the wider strategy to deliver the regeneration of Macclesfield town centre that residents want and deserve, which is being taken forward by Cheshire East Council. It was good to meet with Jon and Leon, to learn more about the proposed plans for the cinema and leisure-led scheme, and to discuss them with local residents. I would encourage more local residents and businesses to have their say on this important part of the future regeneration plans, and I will continue to stay close to these vital issues going forward."
