In June 2017, David was appointed as a Government Whip. The core of David's work in Parliament is to be a strong voice for Macclesfield.

By convention, Whips do not speak in the House of Commons. However, David will continue to speak up for Macclesfield in his meetings with Ministers and in all his other Parliamentary activities.
