Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, David Rutley, has met with Peter Mayhew, Manager of the Mill Street branch of Marks & Spencer in Macclesfield, to discuss town centre regeneration plans and how to make Macclesfield a more distinctive shopping destination.
During the meeting, David heard more about the store’s activities, as one of the flagship retailers on Macclesfield’s high street, and also learnt more about Peter’s views on how best to help Macclesfield town centre become a more attractive destination for shoppers.
David was pleased to hear more about the store’s commitment to the local community and the work Peter is doing to assist in shaping the town’s regeneration plans, including car parking plans in Macclesfield.
Speaking following the meeting, Peter said, “I am very grateful to David for demonstrating his support for the work we are doing, and for taking the time to discuss the opportunities which exist for retailers and shoppers alike in Macclesfield. It is important that the town continues to develop and become a more vibrant and attractive shopping experience. I look forward to further contributing to these efforts.”
David added, “It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to meet Peter, and to learn more about the store’s future plans. It is clear that Marks & Spencer continues to have an important role on Mill Street, and in helping to ensure that Macclesfield town centre shopping has a sustainable future. I would like to thank Peter for his personal commitment to town centre regeneration initiatives, and look forward to working with him in the months ahead.”
