Local residents are being encouraged by David Rutley MP to have their say on much-needed plans to regenerate Macclesfield town centre.
A six-week-long public consultation, ‘There’s no Place like Macclesfield - A 5 year Vision, Strategy and Action Plan for the revitalisation of Macclesfield’, has been launched by Cheshire East Council. Comments can be submitted until Wednesday 15th November.
As well as seeking views on existing projects for the town centre, including the leisure-led cinema scheme, new restaurants and public realm enhancements, the consultation will look ahead to the future at ways to encourage growth and prosperity in Macclesfield for years to come. The consultation document can be read and responded to on the Council’s website: www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/council_and_democracy/council_information/consultations/consultations.aspx
Regenerating the town centre has been a major priority for David throughout his time as Macclesfield’s Member of Parliament. He continues to work actively alongside local commercial and community groups, as well as Cheshire East Council, to deliver an ambitious approach to regenerating the town centre, to help realise its full potential.
David said, “I know how important the regeneration of Macclesfield town centre is for local residents, and so I welcome that Cheshire East Council is engaging with the public on these vital plans. Many local residents tell me this is a clear priority, and I would encourage as many people as possible to have their say on this once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver the town centre regeneration that residents want and deserve.”
