Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, David Rutley, has added his support to Macclesfield Town’s Armed Forces Day, on January 23rd, when members of the armed forces will be able to cheer on the Silkmen for free.
Servicemen and women are invited to attend the club’s Vanarama National Premier League game against Aldershot for free, to say thank for their brave service to our country. The decision was made to issue free tickets for the game due to Aldershot’s longstanding connection with the Army.
John Askey’s side are enjoying another promising season, as they currently lie seventh in the table, firmly in the promotion playoff mix, with little over a third of the season to go. David has also supported the initiative by providing a number of local armed forces contacts, to the club, to help promote the day.
David said, “I am delighted that Macclesfield Town are taking the opportunity to show their support for our brave servicemen and women, with this generous initiative. At this critical stage of the season, the team will also greatly appreciate extra support from local residents, and will be inspired by the presence of our armed forces on the day. The club have hit the back of the net with this offer!”
The game takes place on Saturday, January 23rd at the Moss Rose Stadium with a 3pm kick off. For the free tickets, contact the club before 5pm Friday 22nd January on 01625 264686 or email reception@mtfc.co.uk.
