David Rutley MP visited Poynton’s new emergency services hub to learn more about how it is leading the way in collaborative working.
Fire fighters based at the village’s fire station have recently been joined by staff from Cheshire Police and the North West Ambulance Service. This means that they are able to provide a better service to Poynton and its surrounding communities, with greater coordination in an emergency. The hub opened on 13th January and is already making a real difference. Working as a hub allows the emergency services to bring their staff, equipment and expertise together to build stronger relationships in an effective working environment. All services also benefit from reduced running costs.
The emergency services hub is of particular interest to David as he serves as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Policing and Criminal Justice. He will be highlighting the benefits of the hub to Ministers, in the hope that other areas will adopt similar schemes.
David said “I would like to thank the emergency services for the support they give to residents in and around Poynton. The hub is a very innovative concept. It brings our key emergency services together so that they can deliver a better service to residents in real need. It also cuts the cost of delivering these services, which is another benefit to taxpayers. I hope that the emergency services will seek to develop similar hubs in east Cheshire, and that the lessons learned can be of benefit across the country.”
