Putting Poynton First
David Rutley and Poynton’s Conservative Councillors have continued to build on their track record of taking action for local residents in Poynton. They now seek your support in taking forward this important work for the village in the years ahead.
Poynton Neighbourhood Plan
Your Conservative team are giving their full support to establishing Poynton’s Neighbourhood Plan. Poynton is part of a leading group of communities in Cheshire East that are creating plans that will give local residents a greater say in shaping the framework for local planning and facilities in the future and help stop unwanted development.
Supported by Poynton Town Council and an enthusiastic team of local volunteers, Cllr Phil Hoyland took the lead in getting this vital initiative off the ground. With Phil’s sad passing, the local Conservative team will continue to actively support the development of the Plan and oppose excessive development in the Green Belt.
Poynton Relief Road
The welcomed news that £16.4 million has been promised for the Poynton Relief Road, followed an active campaign by Poynton Councillors, David and Cheshire East Council which made the case for the Relief Road. The Relief Road has strong support from local residents, as it will significantly reduce traffic congestion in the village.
The A6MARR (Manchester Airport to A6 relief road) is now underway and planned for completion in 2017. Cheshire East Council aims to start work on the Poynton Relief Road in 2017. David and Poynton’s Conservative councillors will continue to campaign for Poynton’s Relief Road to be completed in the shortest possible timescale.
