Local MP, David Rutley, met recently with the new Macclesfield Local Policing Unit's Chief Inspector, Jez Taylor, to discuss his policing priorities for Macclesfield and its surrounding communities.
David was pleased that Chief Inspector Taylor confirmed that Cheshire Constabulary remains as committed as ever to tackling crime in and around local communities and keeping residents of Macclesfield and north-east Cheshire safe. Ongoing priorities for local police officers include action to deal with anti-social behaviour in Macclesfield town centre, and tackling drug misuse and dealing.
As well as responding to crimes when they happen, Cheshire Constabulary remains committed to a range of important crime prevention initiatives, to help stop offences from occurring in the first place. The Force continues to invest strongly in community policing, as well as making use of new technologies to help fight and prevent crime.
Chief Inspector Taylor, who was first posted to Cheshire in 2004, has returned to Macclesfield after six years. He has worked in a number of uniformed and strategic roles across the Force, providing him with a broad range of policing experience.
Speaking after his meeting, David said, “I was pleaded to meet with Chief Inspector Taylor in his new role and to learn more about Cheshire Constabulary’s ongoing work to respond to and prevent crime across local communities. It is clear that Chief Inspector Taylor brings a wealth of experience to this role and I look forward to continuing to support him and his excellent team in their vital work in our area in the months ahead.”
