Following the recent increase in coronavirus cases relating to the Delta variant, Cheshire, along with other neighbouring areas, has been made an “Enhanced Resource Area”, so that we can secure access to additional support.
I recently met the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, with other Cheshire East MPs to discuss the local situation and to review the support that will be made available following Monday evening’s announcement about Cheshire’s status. He confirmed that extra testing capacity would be made available to bolster the important work our local testing teams are doing. The Health Secretary also explained how this combined with the vaccine programme and the latest local advice will help bring down the number of cases over the weeks ahead, as has happened in Bolton.
It’s important that we now play our part by getting tested and heeding the latest advice, so that we can help bring down the number of infections in our area.
