Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, David Rutley joined more than 200 people for a concert given by the Cowbridge Male Voice Choir from South Wales in aid of Christian Relief Uganda (CRU), a charity which supports Maria’s Care, a Primary School in Uganda.
The concert, which was held at Tytherington Family Worship Church was also supported by Mayor of Macclesfield, Cllr Liz Durham, and her Consort, and Cllr Gareth Jones. The concert raised over £2,000, which will be of great support to the important work done by CRU.
CRU is a UK registered Charity which was established in 1996 to raise funds for and support the work of Maria Maw MBE. Maria was working with destitute children in a small underprivileged community in the Kamuli District of Busoga, Uganda, and had established a Ugandan NGO, Maria’s Care.
The Cowbridge Choir has been associated with the charity for ten years and the members of the choir provide their services without charge. This year they decided to travel up to Macclesfield where CRU is based, and did not disappoint the audience, with another fine performance.
Speaking after the concert, David said, “I was delighted to support this fantastic concert, which raised important funds for CRU. I would like to thank the Cowbridge Male Choir for making the trip, and to all who supported the evening, to ensure such a great amount was raised.”
