Local Member of Parliament, David Rutley, has praised the work of Worth Primary School, on a visit to meet with pupils and teachers.
The academy school, which is based in Poynton, hosted David for an assembly, where he talked about what it is like to be a Member of Parliament, and the work he is doing in the constituency and in Parliament. He also was given a tour of the School and discussed the progress being made by the School with the Head Teacher, Peter Taylor, who has spent 29 years working at the School.
Worth is a single form entry primary school for children aged between four and eleven. At its most recent Ofsted inspection, the School was rated as “Outstanding”. Opening its doors to the community in 1969, pupils have access to a large, well-equipped site, including seven classrooms, a computer suite, library, three work bays, a music room, kitchens and a large main hall. The extensive grounds also give room for a nursery, cricket square, three sports pitches, two hard court pitches, a small nature reserve, a wild flower garden and two play areas with climbing frames.
Speaking following the visit, David said, “I was very pleased to have the opportunity to meet with Mr Taylor once again and find out about the important work being done at the School. It was great to meet with the pupils and speak to them, and also to discover how engaged they were in current affairs and how people can contribute to our democracy. I look forward to keeping in touch with the School in the months ahead.”
