David Rutley, Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, has had the opportunity to discuss key local policing issues, when he met the new Inspector for Macclesfield, Catherine Mitchell, for the first time.
Inspector Mitchell, who took up her new position at the end of last year, has replaced Inspector Steve Griffiths, who is now responsible for Roads Policing across Cheshire Constabulary. The meeting with David offered an opportunity to discuss key local issues for the year ahead, progress in tackling crime in and around Macclesfield, and how David can support the vital work being done by the Constabulary locally.
David and Inspector Mitchell spoke in particular about the need for the public to be more vigilant in the face of theft from insecure vehicles, and also on the ongoing work to tackle drug related crime. They also took the opportunity to speak about what is being done to reduce rural crime. A Ruralwatch meeting is being held on this matter on Thursday 28th January at 7.00 p.m., at Blaze Farm, in association with the NFU, which will aim to provide valuable information and support to local residents.
Speaking following the meeting, David said, “It was good to have the chance to speak to Inspector Mitchell and find out more about her priorities, as the Inspector for Macclesfield. It is essential that we all play our part in the fight against crime, to support the vital work being done by our local Police. I look forward to continuing to work closely with our hardworking local police officers in the months ahead.”
