Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, David Rutley, has paid a visit to a local business who are set to export new, innovative foam making equipment for the first time to the largest foam producer in India.
David met with Opus Technical’s Chairman, Bill Blackwell, who spoke of the company’s plans and how its work in the development of foam machines is benefitting foam companies across the world.
Opus Technical Ltd is a market leader in equipment and technology for the polyurethane foam industry with over 40 years’ experience in the design, manufacture and installation of over 500 flexible and rigid foam machines have been supplied worldwide to the world’s largest foam companies. In fact, over 80% of the business done by the company is exported.
The family business has been at the forefront of the major developments in the Polyurethane Foam Industry, designing and building its equipment in-house. Opus Technical also works to promote engineering within schools. One of the Directors, John Blackwell, is an ambassador in this field. The business is currently working with A Level students from the King’s School in Macclesfield, through the Engineering Education Scheme run by the Engineering Trust, to provide them with a real life development project.
Speaking following the meeting, David said, “It was great to meet Bill and find out more about the business. The export deal with India is an exciting development, and is a good example of how local entrepreneurs are successfully realising important export opportunities. I am also pleased that the team is working hard to pass its enthusiasm for engineering to the next generation.”
