Following the second anniversary of the tragic explosion at Wood Treatment Ltd in Bosley, local MP, David Rutley, met with Mr Mike Cross and Mr Iain Brodie, the outgoing and new head of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) team investigating the incident.
At the meeting, David received an update on progress from HSE on its joint investigations with Cheshire Constabulary. He was given assurances that the investigation remains thorough, ongoing and active.
David also thanked Mr Cross for the important role he has played in taking forward the investigation, and the strong interest that he has shown in the needs of the local community during that time.
Speaking after the meeting, David said, “I met with the Health & Safety Executive recently for an update on how the joint investigation with Cheshire Constabulary into the tragic explosion that took place in Bosley in 2015 is progressing. This investigation is vital in learning lessons from the incident, providing answers that those affected by this devastating incident want and deserve to questions about the causes of the explosion, and ensuring that anyone who has broken the law is held to account. I was reassured that the investigation is on track and momentum is being maintained. I will continue to actively support these investigations going forward, and to keep close to this important matter in the months ahead. I plan to meet again with HSE early in the New Year, to seek a further update”.
