Leading Poynton-based concrete mixer business, Armcon, was visited recently by local MP, David Rutley, for a tour of the plant and to learn more about the services offered by the company to the concrete mixing industry.
The business, which employs fifty people locally, has been trading in Poynton for over thirty years. Armcon primarily produces volumetric concrete mixing vehicles, which are responsible for nearly fifteen per cent of all concrete produced in the UK, as well as other equipment to support operations in the concrete industry.
On his visit, David had the opportunity to meet with many of the business' staff. He was also given a tour of the plant by Armcon Operations Director, Nigel Boswell, where he learned more about the state-of-the art facilities that support the business, and the range of cement products that it supplies to its clients. Such has been the growth of Armcon over the past thirty years that three out of every four volumetric concrete mixers sold come from the company.
Speaking after his visit, David said, "Armcon is an impressive Poynton business success story, having been part of the local economy for over thirty years. It was good to visit the plant and to learn more about its operations and its leading role in the concrete industry. It is clear that the business has gone from strength to strength since it was founded thirty years ago, and I wish it continued success going forward.”
