Local MP, David Rutley attended active local business group Poynton In Business’ March breakfast meeting at Poynton Civic Hall.
David addressed the group on a range of topics including the importance of local infrastructure, like the Poynton Relief Road, the Poynton Neighbourhood Plan and apprenticeships. He then answered questions, and discussed with members the availability of industrial space, office space for start-ups and promoting local creativity. David was keen to highlight Poynton’s outdoor activities, community spirit, heritage and culture, which help make the village so unique.
Despite the weather, nearly 30 attendees came to. Delicious baked goods were supplied by Bramhall Bakery on Queensway.
Fitting tributes were paid to Cllr Phil Hoyland, who sadly recently passed away. Alan Rashleigh (Alan Rashleigh & Associates) asked the group for Newsletter content, announced an upcoming Members Survey and invited comments on Poynton’s Christmas lights.
Speaking following the event, David said, “It was good to discuss with local businesses how we can all work together to take Poynton forward. This is a place brimming with dynamic entrepreneurial and community spirit, so these events really do help develop ideas and initiatives in the area. I would encourage other local businesses to take the chance to get involved in Poynton In Business’ important activities.
The next meeting is on Wednesday 8th April 2015 at 5.30 pm. A local venue to be announced shortly. PIB information is available at www.poyntoninbusiness.co.uk.
