At a meeting with the new Chief Inspector for Macclesfield Police, Laura Marler, local MP, David Rutley, discussed strategic police and crime priorities for the town, and expressed his continued support for the vital work undertaken locally by Cheshire Constabulary.
David learned more from Chief Inspector Marler about her previous experience in neighbourhood policing teams, and also discussed the key local policing issues for Macclesfield over the coming months. A strong focus for Chief Inspector Marler and her team will be on the local night-time economy and ensuring that local residents can continue to safely enjoy time out in the town centre.
Another priority for Cheshire Constabulary is tackling drug-related crime. David was able to join a briefing meeting for officers preparing to implement an arrest warrant for a drug-related offence, and saw for himself the thorough and professional approach the Police bring to responding to incidents of this kind.
Chief Inspector Marler has recently taken up her role in Macclesfield. She transferred to Cheshire Constabulary after nineteen years’ service with Greater Manchester Police, where she spent time on the frontline in uniformed roles, and also as a Detective Constable, Sergeant and Inspector.
Speaking after the meeting, David said, “It was good to have the opportunity to meet with Chief Inspector Marler and to learn more about the strategic policing priorities for Macclesfield for the coming months, including tackling drug-related crime. I am grateful to all our local police officers for the professionalism and dedication they show as they work hard for our communities. They deserve all our support in the vital work that they do.”
