The food may have been cooked medium rare, but the service was well done, as David Rutley, Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, sampled the culinary experience on offer at the Silk Room Restaurant at Macclesfield College, with Principal, Rachel Kay.
The MP was meeting Ms Kay to learn about the positive progress being made at the College in recent months, but specifically to learn how the restaurant is developing the skills of students, both in the kitchen and front of house.
With high quality delivery from catering and hospitality students, the stylish Silk Room restaurant provides the ideal place to enjoy lunch or dinner. Signature meal evenings held throughout the year give the public the opportunity to sample speciality gourmet dinners designed by professional local chefs and prepared by students in the College’s state-of-the-art kitchens.
A full menu and opening times can be found on the College’s website, by visiting http://www.macclesfield.ac.uk/campus/silk-room.aspx.
Speaking following his lunch, David said, “Once again, it has been a very encouraging visit to Macclesfield College, to learn about the great work being done there and in the Silk Room Restaurant. As well as offering fantastic food and service for its customers, the restaurant is giving students a very real opportunity to showcase their skills and understanding of what it is like to work in a real-life environment. I wish the students every success with their studies, and look forward to keeping in touch with the College in the months ahead.”
