New, life-saving defibrillator equipment has been provided to Broken Cross Primary School, thanks to the generosity of Stockport company Chrome Services Ltd, at a ceremony attended by Macclesfield MP, David Rutley.
David joined pupils and staff at the school, as well as Adrian Dale and Anthony Williams of Chrome Services Ltd and representatives from Peaks and Plains Housing Association and the Wilkinson Cowan Partnership, and presented the defibrillator to Broken Cross Primary School headteacher, Donna Lewis. This important equipment will help to save lives in and around the school.
A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high-energy shock is called defibrillation, and is an essential life-saving step when performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The company took the decision to donate the defibrillator following its work with Peaks and Plains on the nearby Weston Estate. Directors Adrian and Anthony wanted to give something back to the community and concluded that they could do this by donating a defibrillator to Broken Cross Primary School.
Speaking after his visit, David said, "I would like to thank Chrome Services Ltd for their donation of a defibrillator to Broken Cross Primary School. Thanks to its generosity, the school will be able to respond to incidents of cardiac arrest, making the school a safer environment for pupils. I would also encourage other local businesses to help more schools invest in this important safety equipment."
