Macclesfield MP David Rutley has been finding out more about the range of support available for young people at Just Drop-In.
David is Patron of the charity based on Duke Street, which does important work in supporting young people with advice and help in a friendly and supportive environment. They provide help to young people with living independently by exploring basic life skills, such as cooking and budgeting in the charity’s My Pad facility. Just Drop-In also offers a free counselling service for 12-25 year olds.
This year, the charity is also increasing the support and information it provides to young people on issues relating to financial management. Ann Wright the new manager of Just Drop-In outlined some of the charities plans. She said, “We are encountering an increasing number of young people experiencing financial hardship and we want to respond to this need. We have increased the number of volunteers accessing financial capability training and the service is holding four themed weeks a year to highlight the help and support we can offer”.
Anyone who wants to take advantage of any of the services available should ‘Drop-In’ to the charity’s base on Duke Street.
During his visit, David met with Ann Wright and Bruce Taylor, the new Chair of Trustees. They also discussed the charity’s plans for the year ahead and its fundraising priorities.
David said, “Just Drop In does an excellent job supporting young people in times of need. It is good to see that support is now available to help with managing money. I know that budgeting is something people of all ages can struggle with, so it’s good to see Just Drop In offering the help young people need in this important area. I look forward to continuing to work with Just Drop-In in the months ahead.”
