Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, David Rutley, was pleased to be attendance at the switch on for superfast broadband in Bosley, on 4th December.
David was joined by BT Marketing Manager, Jenny Westwood and Cheshire East Councillor, Lesley Smetham, at the switch on of the first cabinet off the North Rode telephone exchange, at the crossroads of the A54 and A523. The cabinet will serve 150 households in the vicinity. Residents and businesses can check the availability of faster broadband by the visiting the Connecting Cheshire website β www.connectingcheshire.org.uk
The switch on is part of the continuing superfast broadband rollout in Cheshire. As part of the Phase 2 rollout, further coverage will be provided in the area once additional work has been completed.
A number of local communities in the Macclesfield constituency are waiting to hear when they will see the benefits of superfast broadband coverage, and David has been working closely with affected local communities, Connecting Cheshire and BT to improve the speed of services available in these areas.
Speaking after the switch on, David said, βIt is good to see clear progress being made with the rollout project, which will be of great benefit to the community and businesses in North Rode and part of Bosley. There is clearly more work to be done to support all of our harder to reach rural communities in the area, and I will continue to raise these concerns with Cheshire East Council and Connecting Cheshire in the months ahead.β
