Adjournment Debate: Support for First-Time Employers

David secured a debate in the House of Commons on Friday 1st November on “Support for First-time Employers.” He opened with this speech: I am grateful to Mr Speaker for granting this debate and I am glad to see the Minister for Universities and Science, my right hon. Friend the Member for Havant (Mr Willetts), in his place. My right hon. Friend is a good friend to Macclesfield, and continues to provide support and advice on the long-term future of an AstraZeneca site at Alderley Park, which is much appreciated.

Strengthening Macclesfield’s Local Economy

The recent news that Manchester’s Airport City will be backed by global partners, including major Chinese investors, is a real boost to the North West as a whole and to the economy in north-east Cheshire. £800 million is being invested in what will be the UK’s largest regeneration programme since the Olympic Park. New hotels, warehouses and offices could create an additional 16,000 jobs in our region. Chinese investment will help forge stronger local links with the growth economies in the Far East.

Bollington Sea Cadets: Annual Royal Naval Inspection

Bollington & Macclesfield Sea Cadets turned out in force on Thursday 10th October, for their Annual Royal Naval Parade (RNP). The RNP is the final and ceremonial part of a three part inspection regime, where the Royal Navy ensure that the unit is operating safely and correctly, meeting RN guidelines for training and activities. It was carried out by the North West Deputy Area Officer, Lt. Collin Jones RN and the Manchester District Officer, Lt. Cdr. (SCC) James Garner RNR.

Order, Order! Macclesfield Students Have Their Day In Parliament

David Rutley MP welcomed six Macclesfield students to Westminster on 22nd October. The students from Tytherington High School, Fallibroome Academy, All Hallows Catholic College and The King's School, were in Parliament for David's Parliamentary Induction Day, which allows them to experience how Westminster works and put questions to David directly.

Macclesfield MP David Rutley is working with Prostate Cancer UK to raise awareness of prostate cancer. David met with the charity over a game of table football to learn more about the steps in place to support men with prostate cancer.

Macclesfield MP David Rutley joined over thirty Poynton business owners and managers to talk shop at the latest Poynton In Business breakfast meeting. David, who has a strong background in business, addressed the Breakfast. He discussed the positive reputation that Poynton and its business community enjoys. He also endorsed the Poynton In Business group as a means of encouraging local trade and having a voice to represent the interests of Poynton’s business community.
