A local café that has been given a new lease of life has been visited by Macclesfield’s Member of Parliament David Rutley, to hear about its potential for the wider community.
West Park Café had sat vacant for several years before friends Louis Dixon and Ben Fraser took on the lease from Cheshire East Council earlier this year. Following a deep clean and repainting, the Café opened in May. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, becoming a well-established spot for visitors to beautiful West Park, and employing a ten-strong team of staff, all from Macclesfield.
On his visit, David met with Louis and Ben, to discuss their plans for the Café and how they hope to make it a hub for the local community and an asset to the town. This includes a further refurbishment, and looking at the potential for hosting live music, community fundraisers, treasure hunts and sports clubs, and even a mini Christmas market in December.
Speaking after his visit, David said, “West Park is a much-loved local asset. Thanks to their entrepreneurial spirit, Louis and Ben have turned West Park Café into a thriving business, providing jobs and services for local people. It was good to hear about the exciting plans they have to make the Café a real community hub, and I wish them every success going forward.”
