David Rutley MP gave his support to the Big Coffee Morning in Poynton on Saturday 26th April.
Big Coffee Mornings are held across the country in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. The funds raised from the Poynton event will go to a local team of Macmillan nurses who provide much needed assistance and support to cancer patients living in the community.
Poynton’s event was well attended and provided a wide range of entertainment. Highlights included performances from the Manchester Giants’ official cheerleaders ‘The Shooting Stars’, Lower Park School Choir, Poynton High School Orchestra and Zion Creative Youth Theatre Group.
The event, which raised £377.41, was organised by Councillor Gabor Bartos, Poynton’s Mayor, who has supported Macmillan for many years. Gabor said, “Cancer could happen to anyone and it is important to increase awareness. It is our responsibility to look after the vulnerable and needy; please give your support to the organisations who care for them”.
After the event David said, “It’s great to see Poynton’s community coming together for such an important cause. Most of us know friends and family who have suffered from cancer. Macmillan makes a vital contribution to cancer patients and their families at the time they need it most. I am pleased to give my support to the Big Coffee Morning.”
